Roles and Responsibilities

1. Upholding Scientific Quality
   Ensure manuscripts meet high standards of scientific rigor and originality.
   Evaluate relevance, novelty, and contribution to medical knowledge.
   Maintain consistency with the journal’s aims and scope.
   Recommend acceptance, revision, or rejection based on merit.
2. Managing the Peer-Review Process
   Select qualified, unbiased peer reviewers.
   Ensure timely and fair review of submitted manuscripts.
   Monitor the quality and objectivity of reviewers’ comments.
   Make editorial decisions based on reviewers’ feedback and independent assessment.
3. Ensuring Ethical Standards
   Adhere to international publishing ethics.
   Detect and prevent plagiarism, data fabrication, and falsification.
   Ensure proper informed consent and ethical approval for human/animal research.
   Address conflicts of interest among authors, reviewers, and editors.
   Handle allegations of misconduct appropriately.
4. Maintaining Editorial Independence
   Make decisions free from commercial or political influence.
   Avoid bias related to nationality, gender, institutional affiliation, or funding source.
   Protect confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
5. Policy Development and Journal Governance
   Develop and periodically update editorial policies.
   Define authorship criteria and submission guidelines.
   Establish correction, retraction, and expression-of-concern policies.
   Monitor journal performance and indexing standards.
6. Promoting Transparency and Integrity
   Ensure accurate reporting.
   Encourage data sharing and transparency where applicable.
   Oversee corrections, retractions, and errata when necessary.
   Safeguard the journal’s credibility and reputation.
7. Strategic and Advisory Role
   Advise on journal direction and scope expansion.
   Attract high-quality submissions.
   Recommend special issues or thematic series.
   Represent and promote the journal within the academic community.
8. Compliance with PMC Requirements
   For journals indexed in PubMed Central:
   Ensure technical and ethical compliance with PMC standards.
   Maintain XML formatting and archiving requirements.
   Ensure open access and public accessibility policies are followed.

Journal Committee

Roles and Responsibilities

1. A faculty member of Professor rank shall serve as the Chairperson of the Journal Committee.
2. The Committee shall consist of 3 to 7 members.
3. The Committee shall be responsible for overseeing the publication of all research activities conducted under the institution.
4. The Committee shall ensure proper distribution of all publications.
5. The Committee shall conduct regular training programs for its members to maintain proficiency in publication standards and processes.
6. An advisory board shall be established to monitor and guide publication activities.
7. Copies of all publications shall be submitted to the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) as required.
8. An advisory committee comprising senior faculty members shall be constituted to provide guidance and oversight.
9. The Journal shall never be considered a source of profit or commercial revenue.
