Department Of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology

The Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology is provided with a museum and other ancillary facilities. The museum has good collection of specimens, models, posters and charts. Hands-on-teaching in legal medicine is imparted here in small groups. Practical classes on postmortem examination are held in Dhaka Medical College morgue.

Our Mission

The mission of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology is to apply medical knowledge to legal matters, especially in investigating deaths, injuries & crimes to find the truth, serve justice & aid legal proceedings by determining cause, manner, and time of death.  It also provides scientific evidence to the justice system, and ensuring legal accountability and rights of individuals. Its core goals involve assisting courts, informing policy, and upholding ethical medical practice in legal contexts.

Our Vision

The vision of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology is to apply medical knowledge for justice, serving as the crucial link between medicine & law.  Its role is to produce a physician who will be informed and alerts about his/her medico legal responsibilities and is capable of being discharging medico legal duties & medical practice.
