Department Of Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology is provided with well equipped laboratory and other auxiliary facilities to impart hands-on-training to the students. Also the students are made acquainted with the instruments and there use in the laboratory.

Our Mission

The mission of the Department of Microbiology is to provide high-quality education and practical training in microbial sciences while advancing innovative research to address national and global health challenges. The department is committed to developing skilled, ethical, and competent professionals capable of applying microbiological knowledge in disease diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. Through excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement, it strives to contribute to public health improvement, combat antimicrobial resistance, support vaccine development, and promote rational and affordable healthcare solutions.

Our Vision

The department aims to train exemplary doctors who understand the microscopic pathogens of bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses, along with their interactions with the human body and immune response. This is all taught through an integrated curriculum that includes lectures focused on student-centered learning and small group discussions encouraging student participation. This approach helps students develop lifelong learning skills and teamwork abilities.

Message from the Head

He obtained his MBBS in 1992, M. Phil in Virology from BSMMU 2005 and FCPS in Microbiology 2013. He is serving 19 years of academic, research and diagnostic experiences in Microbiology and 14 years of clinical medicine practice as a physician, overall more than 32 years of experience in medical field. In addition to undergraduate teaching, learning and assessment programs, he is actively involved with postgraduate teaching, learning and assessment and question moderation programs of BSMMU& BCPS. He is former member secretary faculty of basic science, BCPS and sectoral working group (human health) of AMR surveillance member of IEDCR. He has 33 publications in National & International Medical Journals.
