Mission 
The mission of the Faculty Development Committee is to promote excellence in medical education, research, clinical practice, and leadership by supporting the continuous professional growth of faculty members. The committee is committed to enhancing teaching effectiveness, scholarly productivity, ethical practice, and academic leadership through structured development programs, mentorship, and innovation, thereby ensuring high-quality education and improved healthcare outcomes.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Faculty Training & Capacity Building
  1. Plan, organize, and monitor faculty development programs (FDPs) such as workshops, seminars, and short courses.
  2. Promote training in medical education technologies, teaching–learning methods, assessment strategies, and curriculum development.
  3. Facilitate training in competency-based medical education (CBME), where applicable.
  • Teaching–Learning Enhancement
  1. Support faculty in adopting innovative teaching methods (e.g., small-group teaching, simulation, problem-based learning).
  2. Encourage integration of e-learning, blended learning, and digital tools in medical education.
  3. Promote effective student assessment methods, including formative and summative assessments.
  • Faculty Orientation & Mentorship
  1. Conduct orientation programs for newly appointed faculty members.
  2. Establish and oversee mentorship programs for junior faculty.
  3. Guide faculty on academic roles, professionalism, and institutional policies.
  • Research & Scholarly Development
  1. Encourage and support faculty involvement in medical education research and clinical research.
  2. Organize workshops on research methodology, biostatistics, ethics, and scientific writing.
  3. Promote publications, presentations, and participation in conferences.
  • Performance Improvement & Appraisal Support
  1. Assist in developing faculty appraisal and feedback mechanisms.
  2. Use feedback from students and peers to identify faculty development needs.
  3. Recommend targeted development programs based on performance reviews.
  • Quality Assurance & Accreditation Support
  1. Ensure faculty development activities comply with regulatory body requirements (e.g., NMC, PMDC, PMC, GMC, etc.).
  2. Maintain documentation and records of FDPs for accreditation and inspections.
  3. Contribute to continuous quality improvement in medical education.
  • Professionalism & Ethics
  1. Promote professional behavior, ethics, communication skills, and leadership development among faculty.
  2. Sensitize faculty to gender sensitivity, student welfare, and inclusive education.
  • Collaboration & Networking
  1. Coordinate with Medical Education Unit (MEU) or equivalent bodies.
  2. Collaborate with other medical colleges, universities, and professional organizations for joint FDPs.
  3. Invite external experts and resource persons.
  • Policy Development & Advisory Role
  1. Recommend institutional policies related to faculty development and academic growth.
  2. Advise college leadership on strategies for faculty retention and career progression.
