Student Care
Popular Medical College cares for its students like its own children and strives to bring out the
best from each of them. To ensure adequate student care a group of 3-5 students are placed under the direct guidance of a young teacher (lecturer). They are called guide teachers. Three guide teachers are supervised by a mid-level teacher (Asstt. Prof. / Assoc. Prof.) obtain weekly reports of the students and their performance (academic, social and disciplinary) from the respective guide teachers. The supervising teachers are entrusted with student care and are responsible for solving their problems too (if required in consultation with the senior teachers, college administration and parents/guardians). The supervising teachers are required to prepare a complete performance report of each student (under their jurisdiction) and send it to the chairman ACC fortnightly. This report is based on the report of the guide teachers and on their own observations.
The chairman ACC evaluates the performance reports. Subsequently he presents the performance report with his evaluation comments in the meeting of the heads of the departments of each phase, discusses and re-evaluates the performance reports to formulate an action plan for improvement/rectification of student performance. The recommendation is sent to the Principal for necessary action.
Student Assistance
The college has a students assistance centre designed to help students in relation to their study, accommodation, food and other related matters. The centre provides special assistance to those who feel they are unable to keep pace with the academic course. The centre also aims at developing individual student confidence to excel in every sphere and emerge as a productive citizen ready to deliver their best academically, skillfully, spiritually and emotionally. No doubt this is a small step but a step nevertheless towards a brighter future for each and everyone of our students.
